A Summit on Planning for Services Controlled by People with Disabilities December 1 and 2, 2009
Hilton Harrisburg, Harrisburg, PA
Funded by: PA Developmental Disabilities Council
Long Term Living Training Institute
The Department of Public Welfare’s Home and Community Based Stakeholder Planning Team’s (SPT) Participant Directed Workgroup held a 2-day summit on December 1 and 2, 2009 to plan for services controlled by people with disabilities. Participants learned about existing services controlled by people with disabilities in PA and across the country. Participants identified barriers to achieving this control and plan to secure the administration’s commitment to eliminating these barriers as well as development of a statement of policy to be endorsed by the Governor’s Disability Cabinet. Furthermore, to ensure a future commitment to completing this task, participants created an action plan to make services controlled by people with disabilities standard operating practice in Pennsylvania.
